Creating a Marriage Preparation Experience that Lasts Forever

We need a whole new way of doing pre-marital counseling for this

generation. This new generation desires meaningful relationships. They

want something that is experiential and authentic to provide practical tools

to help a marriage work. At Legacy Family Ministries, we believe that

there are five essentials that describe The Countdown Experience:

biblical, experiential, authentic, relational and practical. These core values

combined with an interactive mix of personal stories, visual aids, props,

and humor make The Countdown Experience a unique way of preparing

couples for marriage.

What is the Legacy Countdown Leader Network?

It is a network of Christian leaders in marriage & family ministry – pastors,

ministers and lay couples who utilize "To Have & To Hold" for pre-marital

education and preparation for couples.

How do I become a Countdown Leader?

1. Attend a Countdown training event

2. Agree to Legacy Family Ministries Statements of Belief

Agree to the Statement of Faith, Statement of Marriage, and Essentials

of Countdown.

3. Become a Marriage Educator

Marriage Educators use their lives to teach and facilitate principles,

skills, and attitudes through an interactive process rather than

professional mental health counseling.

4. Use "To Have & To Hold" Materials

The "To Have & To Hold" Bible study book, Leader Guide, Countdown

to Sexual Intimacy CD, and curriculum plan have been specifically

designed to incorporate the five elements of The Countdown

5. Build a Prayer Support Team

Find a team of supporters who will provide prayer and encouragement

for your ministry.

6. Honor Copyright Laws

Agree not to alter the Countdown published material without permission

from Legacy Family.

7. Utilize Marriage Investors

We believe a valuable component of The Countdown Experience is for

couples to identify 10 marriage investors to pray, support, and

encourage them during this course and first year of marriage (highly

recommended, but optional).

8. Use Pre-Marital Inventory

Use SYMBIS, FOCCUS, Prepare, or similar marriage preparation

inventory (recommended, but optional).
